Vijayadashami Festival
Vijayadashami, or Dussehra, is a festival celebrated across India to mark the victory of good over evil. In North India, it is marked by the burning of Ravana effigies and grand Ramlila performances, symbolizing Lord Rama's triumph over Ravana. In Chhattisgarh's Bastar region, the festival is celebrated with traditional tribal dances, music, and a special procession led by the local king. Himachal Pradesh’s Kullu Dussehra is famous for its vibrant procession honoring Lord Raghunath, with deities paraded through the streets. Mysore in Karnataka showcases a royal Dussehra, featuring a procession with the idol of Goddess Chamundeshwari. In West Bengal, Vijayadashami marks the culmination of Durga Puja, with the immersion of Durga’s idol into rivers, symbolizing the victory of good. Each region celebrates with unique rituals, reflecting India’s rich cultural diversity.
